I Love Writing Books about My Children and Grandchildren!

I currently have written and published fifteen children’s books. My favorite topics as a children’s author are my children and grandchildren. Childhood is such a special and magical time and yet it is here one and gone so quickly!

I love writing books about my children and grandchildren because those books cement those precious memories in time. My hope is that parents and grandparents will draw on their own memories as they read to their “littles”. I hope that my books entertain and warm the hearts of other children, parents and grandparents.

Several of my books are about my children and grandchildren: my favorite topics! I wrote my first book about my second-born son, Micah, and what his life was like as a toddler. That book “A Day in the Lifehttps://www.amazon.com/Day-Life-Micah-Book/dp/1639841725/ref=sr_1_1?crid=14N2OVVDP2Y98&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.difxKXofI2MuiIpkXM0cMw.C15pcyA389A9VEsQDpzxuNN1Fm8c-QGpWURODShKzvY&dib_tag=se&keywords=A+Day+in+the+Life+by+Diane+Orr&qid=1713384318&sprefix=a+day+in+the+life+by+diane+orr%2Caps%2C115&sr=8-1 (soon to be renamed) tells about his life. The book starts in the morning when he wakes up and ends when he closes his eyes and smiles inside thinking of his day. It also tells about his sweet big brother, Noah.

My children and grandchildren are the topics for several of my books. When I write a children’s book, I usually imagine what it will look like on the printed page. I can picture the style and subject of the illustrations in my mind! For the books in the “Micah” series (hopefully there will be four), I wanted a soft pastel look, either watercolor or colored pencil- look. Dakota Verrill, the talented illustrator of “A Day in the Life” did a magnificent job of bringing my story to life! She expertly followed my wishes. Dakota is also the illustrator of the second book in the series “Just the Right Size” due to be released this month!

In the morning when I wake up

A Day in the Life is the real story about a delightful little boy, Micah, who loves his life and his family. His antics will make you smile. His sweet tender moments will warm your heart. It is written in an easy rhyme that will want to make you read it to your child again and again. The illustrations are sweet and simple and the pastels are soothing to children.

Something else I incorporated into each page of the book is Micah’s “Panda”. “Panda” was Micah’s favorite animal for much of his toddler life. Therefore, you will find “Panda” somewhere on each page of the book. It is fun for children to try to find him. My children and grandchildren have their favorite stuffed animals and children will have fun trying to locate Micah’s Panda.

Micah’s Day ends thinking of all he has done that day, and going to sleep thinking about what fun he will have tomorrow. That is my hope for the children and grandchildren who read this book as well as my other books. I hope you have enjoyed this short walk-through of A Day in the Life. I hope you have enjoyed the illustration examples and the discussions about children and grandchildren as the topics of my books.
